The calling function in WhatsApp has been around for a few years now. Now it’s time for a revamped voice call interface.

New interface calling function WhatsApp

We can share you the news that the calling function in WhatsApp will soon look different. Thanks to the latest beta version, we can already see what to expect in the final version of WhatsApp. The design is not only tackled for one-to-one telephone conversations; you can also use the new interface for group calls.

The new design is reminiscent of Apple’s FaceTime. The intention is to make calling with WhatsApp more user-friendly thanks to the new design. You can swipe the window at the bottom of the screen for more options. You can also directly adjust certain options and, for example, switch to video calling or mute your microphone.

First, the new design is available in the beta version. If you want to try it, you can download the APK here. Please note that the version of the installation file may differ per device.

Another improvement that is in the pipeline is that in the event of a missed call from a group conversation, you can immediately add yourself to the conversation via the ‘calls’ tab, if this conversation is still active. Previously, it was necessary to approach the caller to see if he or she could add you again. This is not necessary with the new version.
