WhatsApp introduces message editor in beta
WhatsApp is trying very hard to catch up with competing apps like Telegram. One of the functions that should help with this is being able to edit messages. More is now known about this.

Edit messages in WhatsApp
We’ve been hoping to be able to edit messages in WhatsApp since 2017, and last year the company took new steps towards being able to do that. Hopefully the long wait will finally be rewarded soon and it looks like it. The first WhatsApp Beta testers see an edit button when they long press a message in the chat app. According to WABetaInfo, that happens in version 2.23.10.13 of the beta version of WhatsApp.

Edit in 15 minutes
According to WABetaInfo, there are no limits on how many times a post can be edited, but you must do the editing within 15 minutes of sending. WhatsApp wants to give users the opportunity to correct typos in this way. The company doesn’t want to allow a longer limit, say a day, because that could compromise the integrity of the conversation.
In addition, it is not yet possible to edit a message sent from another device. When a message has been edited, everyone in the chat will see an “edited” label so they can see right away that someone probably corrected a spelling mistake quickly.
The editors are running version 2.23.10.14 of WhatsApp Beta, but unfortunately the editing option is not yet visible there. The new feature will roll out to more people in the coming days.
