WhatsApp comes with extra security when you connect the app to your PC

WhatsApp may have come up with new terms and conditions, which caused some to look for another chat app. The development team is not idle. Now there is an extra layer of security when you link WhatsApp to WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp connection with PC extra secured

WhatsApp is going to set a new requirement if you want to use your WhatsApp account on WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web. These are the PC version and the web version of the popular messaging service. If you want to use this, you need to verify your identity through biometric authentication. This can be a fingerprint or facial recognition. It is striking that it is currently not supported to enter a pin code or pattern. You will also only receive the question if your device has biometric authentication.

WhatsApp does not have access to the biometric data stored on the device itself. WhatsApp also announced that it will come with ‘much more functionality’ in 2021 for the desktop and web version of WhatsApp. This could just be a silent hint to support for voice and video calls and hopefully logging in on multiple devices as well.
