WhatsApp adds extra security when you connect app to PC

WhatsApp has quietly added an extra layer of security to the application. When you want to use WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web, you will have to deal with this.

Extra security in WhatsApp

WhatsApp users will have to deal with an extra layer of security, according to information from DroidApp. In January, the news surfaced that the developers were working on an extra layer of security if you want to use WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. That feature has now been quietly added, we can confirm.

If you want to use WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop, you have to connect them via the Android (or iOS) app, as you were always used to. Until now you only had to scan the QR code, nothing else. That’s changing now. You must confirm that it is you by means of biometric authentication. This can be done via fingerprint, or via facial recognition. If that doesn’t work, you can complete this by entering the PIN code of the smartphone. This is to prevent unwanted people from gaining access to WhatsApp on your computer.

The functionality is now available in the application.
