what is this mysterious phone?

On October 13, OnePlus is going to announce a new flagship called ‘OnePlus 9 RT’. It is a successor to the OnePlus 9R, and that is a variant that has only appeared in India. The OnePlus 9 RT may face the same fate. We know this about it.

India is a growing market, a place where phone sales are booming. Many brands, especially the Chinese, are targeting that large country. OnePlus pays particular attention to the Indian market, and the Dutchman Léandro Tijink, who has worked with OnePlus, was also able to tell that at Androidworld.

The ultimate proof of OnePlus’ love for India came this year, when the brand released a special OnePlus 9 variant, only in that country of more than 1.3 billion inhabitants. The OnePlus 9R was a cheaper flagship, and it will soon receive a successor in India: the ‘OnePlus 9 RT’.

Expected specifications

In a post on Chinese social media, OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 9 RT will be presented on October 13. According to rumors, it comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, a high-end processor that is just a step lower than the Snapdragon 888.

It also gets an improved 50 MP main camera, the same sensor that the Nord 2 has. The battery will be a 4500 mAh one with a 65 watt fast charger. The device will come straight out of the box with OxygenOS 12. The OnePlus 9 RT will not come alone either, because the brand will also release a pair of cheaper wireless earphones: the OnePlus Buds Z2. It is not yet known whether they will come to the Netherlands and Belgium.

What about the other OnePlus 9T devices?

Anyone who knows OnePlus well knows that the Chinese brand releases a T variant of its high-end phones every year in the autumn, but due to the worldwide chip shortage, this was not possible this year. Although it likes to make an exception for the Indian market.

The shortage of chipsets also plays a role in that decision. In such a situation, OnePlus can still more easily serve a market of 1.3 billion people than other 6 billion. Samsung has also been faced with the choice to offer its Galaxy S21 FE in a limited number of markets, but it has not gone down that path. Resulting in a delayed launch.
