Ways to answer your next call without answering

Don’t settle for the standard way of answering calls anymore, check here for other ways to answer your next call.

Sometimes you almost forget: your smartphone was originally made for calling. Yes really. If you do get a call again, there are ways to pick up without picking up. This goes beyond simply picking up your phone and tapping the screen to take the call.

Answer call without answering

This can be done with a voice command. That smart assistant that tells you the weather and sets timers for you can also be used to answer incoming calls. At least if you use Android and Google assistant. ‘Hey Google’ should also do it and then you’re all set.

Incoming calls show up as notifications on your Android phone, then all you have to do is say “hey Google, answer call” (or something similar) to pick up without lifting a finger. You can also use the “reject call” command if it’s someone you don’t want to talk to right now.

Siri

Siri can also answer calls, but only through headphones. If you’re using AirPods or some Beats headphones with an iPhone, you can have Siri tell you who’s calling. And use a voice command to answer the call.

From Settings, choose Phone and then Announce calls: Choose Headphones only and you’ll hear details about the call in your ears. When this feature is enabled, no “hey Siri” is required; you can just say “yes” to accept the call or “no” to decline it when Siri asks.
