Watching Formula 1 without Ziggo is going to be a drama

It seems that you have to explore the depths of the internet in 2022, because Formula 1 disappears on Ziggo and alternatives are scarce.

We’ve had it fine for the past nine years. Ziggo has been responsible for offering Formula 1 all this time. Via television and later also via the internet. But that will change in 2022. The company has stated that it does not have the rights. We predict a dramatic drop in the number of F1 viewers in the Netherlands if there are no good alternatives.

Formula 1 without Ziggo

Because just name a good alternative. F1 TV of course, but that will also disappear next year because Ziggo no longer has the rights in 2022. F1 TV is only available in countries where you can watch Formula 1 through a Dutch provider.

Just name a good alternative, without ending up with illegal streams. As described on Autoblog, we may soon be able to turn to a payment platform of Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) for a fee. But that platform is far from ideal due to, among other things, advertising and high subscription costs.

The Dutch are Dutch and that means two things. It has to be easy and it has to be affordable. If these two things do not happen in 2022, I see it gloomy. On the one hand, a group will drop out because they don’t put that much effort into it. On the other hand, there will be a large group of viewers who will watch Formula 1 via illegal live streams. At least, that’s my expectation. And that is very uncomfortable. If we have to look at this great sport in such a cumbersome way next year, in 2022.
