You don’t know what to do on the train, while waiting for the end of the youngest child’s swimming lesson, in an airport hall? All occasions are good to watch a small episode of the current series on Netflix, Disney + or Amazon Prime Video. The problem is that you may not be able to be permanently connected. In transport (train, RER, metro, car) it is not easy to grab the Internet continuously and in the plane, it is impossible unless you fly on a company that offers a connection. Let’s also not forget that video is very data-intensive. Even on a smartphone or tablet, a two-hour film represents 850 MB and a 20-minute episode of a series “weighs” 120 MB. On a small package, that counts enormously…and even on a large package for that matter .
Your films/series in all circumstances… without pumping on the flat rate!
The solution is then to download your content in advance, at home on WiFi and enjoy it offline when you are away. This is possible on the entire Disney+ catalog and on most Netflix films and series. No connection stability problem and no street plan the first week of the month! It is of course impossible to transfer these files to another medium since they will be signed with DRM backed by your account. If you no longer pay Netflix, you will not be able to access these downloads either. Another restriction is the number of devices on which you can download content. On Netflix you are limited to one device with the Essential plan (SD formula with a screen) at €8.99, then 2 and 4 devices for the Standard and Premium plans. To switch between devices, just delete the downloads. Also note that by downloading content, you also get the dubbing and subtitles…
Netflix and its Custom Downloads feature
On Netflix, it is even possible to activate the option of Custom downloads. The app will download a selection of titles so you always have something to watch. All you have to do is allocate a number of gigabytes and Netflix will select the series that you are currently watching or films that suit your tastes or viewing habits… Note that 3 GB represents 12 hours of content, for example. You even have a bar to see how much storage space you have left on your device. So you can do your little market or let Netflix do it…
