Valve definitely ends the development of the card game Artifact -apkrig

Two and a half years after the release of the Artifact card game, the developers from the Valve studio decided to end all efforts to revitalize the game through the long-prepared second version and are making the final point behind the whole unpleasant story. However, as with the recent case of Antem, Artifact does not disappear completely, as the original version and the unfinished successor remain accessible to players, although they will never see any more content or a major patch. Another change is that from today, Artifact is available completely free of charge and without the possibility of spending more money in the game for new cards.

“Regardless of good introductory sales, the number of players [Artifactu] dropped dramatically. This caused a shift from the planned service model to a reassessment of game mechanisms and economics, “begins the team of developers at the beginning of the night’s message. It should be noted that the community disintegrated within two months, when from the original number of 11,000 average players in December 2018, the number dropped in February of the following year to only 754 players and then even deeper. This was also the reason why Valve decided to keep the original version and start developing Artifact 2.0, which was not publicly available and the only way to get into the gradually improved game was through invitations to the closed beta test. This is crucial for Valve’s further statement, which does not make much sense in view of this fact.

If, by gambling on the number of active players, the people of Valve happen to mean a persistent disinterest in the original version of 2018, then they should not have sent out signals that this is a game that is no longer relevant.

“It’s been a year and a half since the original Artifact team started working on a reboot. But even though we were satisfied with how we managed to meet the individual points [vývoje], we were unable to get the number of players to a level that would justify further development, “says Valve. However, outraged fans on Reddit, for example, do not understand much about what developers are surprised when there was essentially no marketing campaign and Valve did not make a significant effort to include more players in the beta test, for example through other invitations that already accepted players could spread among their acquaintances or community as such. And if by gambling over the number of active players, the people of Valve happen to mean a persistent lack of interest in the original version of 2018, then they should not send signals that it is a game that is no longer relevant, which players explained as no sense to spend on her and more money in her.

With our eyebrows raised, we can also read that Valve does not intend to deal satisfactorily with those who have paid for the game or bought card decks. Of course, they will remain with their owners, but the only consolation is the fact that the cards will be transformed into a special collector’s form and with reference to the information above, no one will get them new. But there’s also a catch, and Valve indirectly says that if someone wants their money back, they can sell those trading cards in the standard way on the Steam Marketplace. Sure, for certain constellations, such cards could become rare items with a high price, but on the other hand, it will be pushed by the fact that the game is basically dead and we do not assume that after the newly ignited it cools down. free of charge of interest, people will play regularly.

As for Artifact 2.0, which the developers renamed Artifact Foundry, players will only get to the new cards by gradually unlocking them through playing, and it will no longer be possible to monetize these cards in any way. The developers also warn that Artifact Foundry is an unfinished game that has a functional core, but players may encounter bugs and graphics flaws, as was logically the case in the closed beta test. The only thing the developers have managed to complete is to include the latest ready-made artwork on the new cards, but this is the last thing to change on the Founder version compared to the latest beta version.

“We are grateful for all Artifact players, especially those who helped us improve and move the Artifact Foundry overall. The team feels that this decision will best serve the entire community. We are proud of the work we have done on both games and we are pleased that they will finally reach a wider audience, “the developers conclude with another statement, slightly torn from reality. And yes, although the number of players has jumped in recent hours, the rating of the game on Steam is relentless, as are the comments and criticisms of fans who wanted the game to continue and believed in previous promises that Valve would eliminate the shortcomings. Unfortunately in vain.
