The update also includes a March security patch
The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite was introduced last January as a cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy S10 flagship model. It came on the market at the beginning of 2019. After its launch, the Galaxy S10 Lite had an Android 10 system with the One UI 2.0 extension. It was later upgraded to Android 11 and One UI 3.0.
For now, owners of this model in Spain can enjoy the upgrade with the One UI 3.1 extension. It is expected to reach other European markets in the coming days. Update number is G770FXXU4EUBA and includes a March security patch of the system. It also fixes a detected vulnerability in the Exynos 990 chipset.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is one of the selected models for which the manufacturer recently extended the warranty of security updates for 4 years. You can check for an update at Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install. Before installing it, make sure that the battery is charged to at least 100% of its capacity.
The One UI 3.1 extension lacks the Wireless DeX function
According to the portal SamMobile the update will not please Galaxy S10 Lite owners who were looking forward to the Wireless DeX feature in the One Ui 3.1 extension. It allows you to view your smartphone system in customized desktop mode wirelessly on Samsung smart TVs. The display then serves as a keyboard and touchpad. Unfortunately, this feature is missing in One UI 3.1 for the Galaxy S10 Lite.
However, the camera’s features have been improved, such as improving the image quality when zooming in on a low-light scene. Security has also been improved by the ability to delete location information from photos before sharing them on social networks. There are also other new One UI 3.1 features for Gallery, Calendar, Reminders, multitasking and social networking.
Samsung is very active in the updates, the competition is also trying
Samsung has significantly improved its access to software support in recent months. Already at the end of autumn, he started updating his smartphones to the latest Android 11 system. Of course, last year’s flagship models of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 series, including the Galaxy S20 FE, were the first to receive it. The flagship of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 series from 2019 followed.
Their modified versions of Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite were not forgotten either. The update of the expensive folding devices Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip was also not surprising. The surprise was definitely Android 11 for cheaper models Galaxy M21 and Galaxy M31.

But the competition is also trying. Nokia has already updated its first Nokia 8.3 5G model to Android 11. After the new year, the Japanese company Sony again launched an update for its Xperia 10 II, Xperia 5 II or Xperia 1 and 5 smartphones. Motorola was the first to start distributing Android 11 for its Motorola moto g pro smartphone and more to follow.
Xiaomi has updated a number of its smartphones, including models of the standalone Redmi brand. An example is Redmi Note 9S. Huawei has again brought the EMUI 11 superstructure to the Huawei P40, P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro models. OnePlus has previously updated the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. They got the OxygenOS 11 built on the Android 11 system. This week it also made it to last summer’s bestseller OnePlus Nord.
