Update with Android 11 finally launched

The company’s most popular smartphone LG among customers last year was definitely a model LG Velvet. For a relatively reasonable price, it offered an elegant design, increased durability, a high-quality AMOLED display, sufficient performance or wireless charging. According to the portal PiunikaWeb now it also receives an update to the system Android 11.

So far only in South Korea and for the 5G model

The portal points out that so far the update is only available on the domestic South Korean market for the 5G version of the LG Velvet. It can be bought even today in some Slovak e-shops. In other markets and for the 4G version of the smartphone, the update could appear in February. Its size is 2251 MB, which should not be a problem with the internal memory of the 128 GB device.

In addition to Android 11, the update also brings a January security patch and the LG UX 10 extension. This improves the volume control interface, the graphics of the pop-up information window during a call and adds the possibility to set the color of the notification bar. We will of course inform you in time about the availability of the update in Slovakia. If this happens, be sure to make sure that your smartphone’s battery is sufficiently charged before installing it.

What improvements will the Android 11 for the LG Velvet bring?

• Screen recording. On-screen video recording is now supported directly in Android 11 and does not require a separate application.
• Common control for all smart devices. Smart home appliances such as heating or lights can now be controlled via a single common interface. To access it, press and hold the power button.
• Manage conversations in one place. User conversations with friends and family in various applications can be viewed on the lock screen.
• Conversation bubbles. Conversations from any communication application (provided the feature is supported by the application) can now be firmly connected to the screen in the form of a bubble. The user thus always has the communication in sight. A separate multitasking has also been improved.
• Quick selection of audio output. You can now choose directly from the notification bar whether the sound should be played via the built-in speaker, Bluetooth or connected headphones via cable.
• Greater security. Further security and privacy updates are made automatically and directly from Google Play.
• Easier authorization of application permissions. You can also add permissions to applications once. If you do not use the application for a long time, its permissions will be automatically revoked.
• Voice control. Faster and easier access to applications thanks to intuitive voice commands without the need to connect to the Internet.

The competition is more active in updates than LG

Despite the update for the LG Velvet model, LG is much less active in software support than the competition. Its domestic competitor Samsung updated its flagships from last year in December. He recently even launched an update of the Galaxy S10 models to Android 11 with the One UI 3.0 extension. He also did not forget the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Fold folding smartphones.

The Japanese company Sony recently launched an update for its Xperia 10 II, Xperia 5 II or Xperia 1 and 5 smartphones. OnePlus has updated the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. They got the OxygenOS 11 built on the Android 11 system. Huawei again brought the EMUI 11 superstructure to the Huawei P40, P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro models. Motorola has now started distributing the Android 11 for its very first Motorola moto g pro smartphone.
