Next-gen games for $ 70?
Ubisoft has still not decided whether to increase the price of its future AAA games to $ 70, as some of its competitors have already done. CFO Frédérick Duguet said that they monitor the market situation and analyze it. From our point of view, the situation is a bit different, because, for example, digital versions of games from Ubisoft for PlayStation and Xbox became more expensive before the launch of a new generation of consoles.

It is also worth mentioning the new open world Star Wars game from the Swedish studio Massive. The authors of The Division are still at the beginning of development and the game will not be released for several years. Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot also assured that Massive is a large team that is collaborating with other studios around the world, so this year and next year, players will also receive news for The Division. In addition, Swedish developers are still working on the game according to the Avatar, which should be released by the end of March 2023 at the latest. Frederick Duguet did not want to talk about the term Star Wars at all. However, Guillemot added that he wants to do a lot of developers at Star Wars, so the company has not the slightest problem with recruitment.
Rainbow Six Quarantine
A somewhat “forgotten” game is Rainbow Six Quarantine, which should finally hit the market this year. However, Ubisoft is considering releasing it under a different name. The reason is a coronavirus pandemic, although the game is about an alien parasite. Frédérick Duguet said that both Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine should be released by the end of September. The original Rainbow Six Siege has already surpassed 70 million players, and its community has grown by 15 million in the last 12 months, the publisher boasted.
Record quarter thanks to Valhalle
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has helped Ubisoft to the most successful financial quarter in history. It was his best-selling game in 2020 and had a record start in the first week of the brand. Ubisoft was said to be the most successful publisher last year in terms of sales on all platforms combined. Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot said he was proud of the game catalog and the development teams that had managed to release several large games on different platforms at the same time.
Of course, we should not forget that Ubisoft has long been developing other games such as Riders Republic, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Roller Champions, The Settlers, Beyond Good and Evil 2 or Skull & Bones.
