TV apocalypse: program reaches 0 viewers for the first time
Television ratings are plummeting. A true TV apocalypse. It turns out that we Dutch people much prefer to sit in the sun than watch TV.
TV apocalypse
Where in the good old days there were still great concerns about children and adults who spent all day in front of the TV, the blue eye of the devil is now increasingly turning a blind eye and a beak.
The charity program Socutera, which you have probably never heard of, deserves the dubious honor of being the first program in the history of Dutch television to achieve the round rating of zero. Not a single test viewer turned on when this program was broadcast on NPO3 on 20.19. TV land is in turmoil about this TV apocalypse, the Mediakrant reports.
TV an obsolete medium
TV bosses have been trying to lure young people back to television since the emergence of the internet. But it all turns out not to work very well and postpone the TV apocalypse. Not only YouTube, but also services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime deliver tailor-made series and films, at a time that you want, without the hassle of a program guide or recorder. Or that a program boss determines what you watch.

Only football matches, such as the Netherlands-Croatia, are watched en masse, with 1.9 million viewers. Particularly salient is that the new programs do not appear to be catching on. A repeat of Ik Departure turned out to be the most watched program. Quite logical, therefore, that the ladies and gentlemen in Hilversum are at their wits’ end.
Have fun on Twitter
That in itself is quite logical. Under a video on Twitter, or the more strictly censored Youtube or Facebook for the more delicate or sensitive readers, you can freely surrender to our national pastime: grumbling. And nice and sectarian showing that Jij Deugt en de Other (climate geek, anti-vaccination wappie, putinist, stupid right or good bastard) has completely misunderstood.
Just die on a TV program that is better watched than the Astroline at three in the morning.
