Top Samsungs have received HDR certification from Netflix

Smartphones series Samsung Galaxy S21 offer customers premium hardware that makes them state-of-the-art multimedia devices. They can be used not only for creating but also watching multimedia content. This possibility is extended by a new benefit, which according to the portal SamMobile brings service Netflix.

On the new Samsungs, you can enjoy movies on Netflix with HDR10 support

A new benefit from Netflix is HDR certification. It guarantees smartphone owners a better experience of watching their favorite movies and series in HD with the HDR10 profile. The AMOLED displays of all three Galaxy S21 series smartphones have HDR10 + support. The Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + displays also have FHD + resolution, a brightness of 1300 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

In addition, the top model Galaxy S21 has a QHD resolution and a brightness of up to 1500 rivets. All three models are the ideal devices for watching videos with Netflix HDR10 support. However, it should be remembered that in order to support HDR in the Netflix service, it is necessary to have paid the highest monthly Premium subscription in the amount of 11.99 euros. This subscription also includes support for 4K resolution.

What is HDR technology and how does it work?

In short HDR, which in translation means High Dynamic Range, belongs to the technology that enables extended reproduction of details in both dark and light parts of the displayed scene. The dynamic range is then the difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the scene. If you watch such a scene in HDR, you will see all the details well and the image will be closer to what you would actually see if you really stood there.

SDR vs HDR10 +

In practice, HDR results in better scene contrast, significantly more redrawn color tones, and greater image depth. The scenes look more vivid and more in line with reality, because the eye can handle better contrasting scenes better than the optical instruments that originally shot the scene. In the case of HDR10, the scene is displayed in 10-bit colors, which means using up to 10 million shades of color.
