TikTok is more popular than YouTube and becomes # 1 video app for Android and iOS

The Finbold site has just revealed that in 2020, TikTok recorded over 660.12 million downloads on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, making it now the world’s most popular video app of the year.
Why has TikTok become the world’s most popular video app?
TikTok’s growth accelerated early last year, and the report highlights some of the driving factors. According to the research report: “the application has grown rapidly in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, especially with emerging lockdowns. During this time, many people had to stay at home, and apps like TikTok kept people engaged.”
The growth of the app is also due to factors like the ability to offer users another way to share content online by creating short videos with music, filters and other captivating features.
This success is also explained by the fact that TikTok continues to multiply new features on its platform. Recently, for example, the application announced the extension of the length of videos from one to three minutes and in June, Tiktok launched Jump, an interactive video system that allows users to include links and widgets in their contents. The social network could also overshadow Linkedin with a new platform allowing users to apply for jobs.
Interestingly, TikTok has grown steadily despite the many issues surrounding privacy. In the United States, the app was nearly banned after the government accused ByteDance, the app’s parent company, of selling user data to the Chinese government. Sanctions were lifted last month by Joe Biden.
