Warranty check on iPhone, iPad and Mac

The easiest way to check this is through Apple itself. All you need is the serial number of your iPhone, iPad or MacBook. On the iPhone and iPad you will find this number in the Settings app under the heading ‘General’. On a MacBook, go to ‘About this Mac’, after which the serial number will be in the overview menu.

Have you noted the serial number? Then follow the directions below to check whether your iPad, Mac or iPhone is still under warranty:

  1. Open your browser and go to Apple’s official website;
  2. Enter the serial number of your Apple product;
  3. And enter the secret code, or renew the code if the current string is not readable;
  4. Select ‘Continue’.

This information screen tells you what kind of Apple product you have, along with information about the warranty. The page consists of three parts. First, it indicates whether your iPhone, iPad or other Apple product has a valid purchase date. This allows employees to quickly recognize your device and help where necessary.

You can also see in this screen whether you are still entitled to telephone support. With each new product purchased, you have a free period of time during which you can call Apple customer service for technical support at no charge.

Finally, this screen shows when you have a warranty on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or another product. Please note, because Apple provides a standard one year manufacturer’s warranty, while in the Netherlands we are entitled to two years. You can therefore extend the expiry date shown by one year and request a repair immediately if necessary.
