Mirror an iPhone screen
Almost everyone has or knows someone with a Chromecast. With this small Google device you can turn any TV into a ‘Smart TV’. For example, you can stream movies and videos from apps on your smartphone to the big screen. For example, with Chromecast it is extremely easy to play Netflix or Ziggo Go on the large television screen.

Mirroring your iPhone is sometimes a little more difficult. Apple has introduced AirPlay to play your iPhone’s screen on a television. Unfortunately, not all televisions work with AirPlay, especially the older models often have to do without the function. Fortunately, you can mirror the screen of your iPhone via Chromecast. To do this, you first need to install an external app:
- Download and open the TV Mirror for Chromecast app;
- If the Chromecast is already set up and your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi, the app will recognize your Chromecast right away. If not, set it up first;
- Tap the name of your Chromecast to which you want to cast the screen, for example ‘Living room’;
- After watching an ad, tap ‘Cast screen’ and then ‘Start broadcast’.
Your screen can now be seen on your television screen. Do you want to stop casting? Then tap on ‘Stop broadcasting’ in the app, or tap on your clock at the top left and then on ‘Stop’. The app is therefore especially suitable for watching videos via Safari or Chrome. This way you can also stream series to Chromecast that are not on an app such as Netflix or HBO Max. TV Mirror for Chromecast is free to install in the App Store:

Alternative apps
Not a fan of TV Mirror for Chromecast? There are several apps that allow you to mirror screen from your iPhone (and iPad) to the TV. Most of them are free to download, but not free to use.
TV Mirror makes money through advertising. Before you start mirroring, you will see an advertisement. Alternatives such as Streamer for Chromecast + do not have advertisements, but you do need a (paid) subscription for this.
You can also choose Chromecast TV Screen Mirroring. This app has a free version, but you will see a continuous watermark on the screen. By paying you can remove it. In short, there are multiple ways to mirror an iPhone screen to a Chromecast. It is up to you which option is preferable.
