In terms of area, Finland is quite comparable to Germany. Nevertheless, there is a serious difference. Because while more than 80 million people reside, live and work in Germany, it is in Finland just 5.5 million people.

This makes Finland one of the least densely populated countries in Europe. It is all the more astonishing that six founders got together there in October 2014 to set up a delivery service for food, flowers and other items.

Long distances, inhospitable weather conditions and bad roads through nature are actually not particularly good starting conditions for a delivery service. But precisely because of these supposed problems, the team quickly learned to make their own service more efficient and to optimize it.

Meanwhile, Wolt is not only active in Finland. The start-up has expanded and is active in 23 countries around the world. One of them is Germany.
