‘These child-friendly restaurants in Ibiza are great’

Ibiza: my favorite island. In my previous article I shared the best accommodations with children, but of course there is also a lot to eat. Personally, I love having the opportunity to wait until 10 p.m., but with children that is often difficult to achieve. A good option is to have an extensive lunch, so that you have enough in the evening baguette con alioli. One tip: book on time. Restaurants fill up quickly, especially in high season. If so, do not worry: via ibiza-runners.com you can order food from many restaurants at your ‘home’.

The tips below are child-friendly, because nothing more annoying than coming in somewhere with your kids and being looked away – after all, you want to be able to enjoy yourself.

Cala D’ort

Definitely the cheapest option. In the southwest of Ibiza you will find the magical rock Es Vedra. The sunsets here are fantastic. Arrive at Cala D’ort beach about an hour and a half before sunset to secure a good spot. Drive past pizzeria Es Verge in advance for a tasty pizza (and a bottle of wine). It can be busy, so ordering is recommended. From the pizzeria it is about a ten minute drive to Cala D’ort. Are you without children? Then drive up from the beach and watch the sunset from the rocks.

La Paloma

In the middle of Ibiza you will find a Spanish Finca, transformed into a fantastic restaurant: La Paloma. I first came there for lunch three years ago. With kids, and that went perfectly. There is a playground and a swing and they can also walk around without this (in my experience) being experienced as annoying. Much of the delicious food comes from the garden and is organic. The card is perfect for sharing. In the evening you will experience a completely different experience: there are lights hanging in trees, which creates a very cozy atmosphere. In addition, the price / quality ratio is really great. Tip: ask for a table in the garden so you can keep an eye on your children.

Los Enamorados

The amazing boutique hotel Los Enamorados, located in the north of Ibiza, also has a restaurant that should not be missing on your list. Everything is right – from the cocktail menu, the crockery and the staff to the view. It might be a bit of a drive from Ibiza town, but really: it’s worth it. Leave early, get to know the beautiful beaches in the north and end the day with a fantastic dinner. Success guaranteed. Don’t eat late if you want to see the phenomenal sunset. And oh yes, in the hotel you immediately score the most beautiful kaftans.

The Giri Café

Like Los Enamorados, The Giri Café is located in the North of the island, in San Juan. On Sundays there is (almost) all year round from 10:00 – 15:00 a nice market with clothes and food. Lovely to have lunch in the garden at The Giri Cafe after the market; on the outside you don’t see how cool it is there. A great spatial design with lots of greenery. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner both indoors and outdoors. The coffee is delicious by the way.

Eggplant

For vegetarians, the romantic Aubergine is the place to be. It is not to be missed on the road from Santa Getrudis to San Miquel. The garden with its elegant chairs reminds me of something royal; an English garden in hippie style where you have all kinds of corners where you can linger. Aubergine has its own large vegetable garden with which the most delicious dishes are prepared. Are you still more of the flesh? Don’t worry, that is also on the menu.

Beachhouse Ibiza

Of course there is also a wonderful beach club at home in the list. Beachhouse Ibiza is extra nice with children. Located in Playa d’en Bossa; not my favorite place, but this is an exception. Very nice to start your day with a yoga session at 9:15 am and then have breakfast. There is also a kids club that is open daily from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Among other things, music is made and mini yoga is given.

La Bodega

After a night of shopping you can fill your belly in the always overcrowded tapas restaurant La Bodega, located next to the drawbridge in Ibiza town. There is a chance that you will be sitting at the table with several people, but the menu is enormously expanding and very affordable. A crying child is probably not heard by the guests because of the commotion there; that is another advantage. A limited number of cozy tables are available outside. Leave your pushchair at home, because it won’t get you very far. Note: there are no high chairs.

WOW Ibiza

In July 2020, the Dutch owners opened restaurant WOW in Santa Gerturdis (the most picturesque place in Ibiza). The decor is really ‘Instagram-worthy’, because everything is beautiful. If you see something you like, you can buy it. Whether it’s the plate you eat from, the painting on the wall or the waiter’s suit. Reserve a spot in the garden and enjoy the delicious food and the house tunes from a real DJ. When it rains, there is a lot of space inside. Small side note: it’s quite an experience with a price tag, so bring a well-stocked wallet.

Finally…

Are you an afternoon without children in Ibiza town and do you want to have lunch with a good glass of cava? Then go to Cappuccino – with children who do not have a swimming diploma, it is not pleasant because you are literally on the water. Do you have a romantic date night in the evening? Then go to La Olivia in the old town. Ask for a table outside and eat as late as possible. If you feel like going all the way for it glam to go, choose Juls.
