The 2022 World Cup started in Qatar on November 20th. But the World Cup is highly controversial due to human rights violations, homophobia and the exploitation of guest workers. As a result, some celebrities are boycotting the tournament, while others are making a fortune.

American actor Morgan Freeman hosted the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Freeman is said to have received a million-dollar fee for his role as World Cup ambassador. The 85-year-old was then subjected to severe criticism.

British musician Rod Stewart apparently received a lucrative offer to perform during the tournament ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As the Sunday Times reported, but declined: “I was actually offered a lot of money, over $1 million. I declined. It is not right to go there.”
