These are the new luminous cell phones ApkRig

The Chinese manufacturer Oppo only presented its Reno 4 series six months ago. Now the company has unveiled the two successors, Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro. The most important features are large AMOLED displays, 65-watt charging and a finish that glows in the dark.

The Reno 4 Pro has only been available here in Germany since mid-October, so today’s presentation of the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro comes as a bit of a surprise. In China, however, the device has been around for a long time. The market launch there took place almost six months ago, but it was a comparatively short product cycle. There was also a brief preview of the Reno 5 Pro +, which was designed for the high-end market.

Oppos Reno 5 glows in the dark

The Reno5 and 5 Pro look very similar, but there are some key differences. With a display diagonal of 6.43 inches, the Reno 5 is slightly smaller than the 6.55 inches of the Pro model, and the edges of the Reno 5 are not rounded. Both devices use a Full HD + OLED panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hertz. As a result, there are saturated colors, strong black levels and fluid movements on the display.

Reno Glow 2.0 is what Oppo calls its new design highlight. This is a phosphorescent coating on the camera and the top of the smartphone. This is very chic in the dark and may ensure that you don’t misplace your cell phone so easily in the evening.

Upper middle class with a few highlights

The main camera is identical in both models. The centerpiece is the 64 MP main sensor, which should convince with features such as live HDR and improved image stabilization. There is also an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera and two two megapixel sensors for macro shots and depth measurement.

Also under the hood of the Reno 5 is a Snapdragon 765G, which, by the way, is already in the previous Reno 4. For the Reno 5 Pro, Oppo relies on the Dimensity 1000+ from MediaTek. Both chipsets offer enough everyday performance, but they are not among the fastest processors on the market. With up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, both models are very well equipped in this regard.

Even with the cheaper Reno 5, you don’t have to do without fast charging, as you can fill up both devices with up to 65 watts. The battery size is almost identical; the Pro model has 4350 mAh, marginally more than the 4350 mAh of the Reno 5.Bluetooth 5, NFC and USB Type-C are also available on both phones, only the headphone jack is available from Oppo Reno 5 Pro not installed.

Price and availability

The Reno 5 starts in China for 2699 yuan (8 GB / 128 GB), which is about 340 euros. With 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, the Reno 5 costs 2999 yuan (about 380 euros). For the Reno 5 Pro, Oppo requires at least 3399 yuan (about 430 euros) and the version with more memory costs 3799 yuan (about 480 euros). The two smartphones will be sold in China from December 18, 2020, but unfortunately there is no date for the start in Germany.

The Reno 5 Pro + is coming soon

In addition to the Reno 5 and 5 Pro, Oppo also gave a brief look at the flagship Reno 5 Pro +. Except for a small teaser picture, there has so far been nothing to see. The Chinese have only revealed that the Snapdragon 865 is in the phone and that it can be charged with up to 65 watts.
