These Android smartphones received a (security) update – week 50

Little update news this week, after the flood of Android and security updates we saw last week. Manufacturer Oppo has started rolling out Android 11 for its flagship, the Find X2 Pro.

The Android security update overview from week 50 – 2020

Android Planet update you daily about smartphone updates. Usually it concerns devices that receive a version update, for example if they are updated to Android 10 or Android 11. For this we have created the Android 10 overview and Android 11 overview. In these overview articles you can see exactly if and when your phone will be updated.

However, security updates are just as important. These patches keep troubles like adware, malware, ransomware and fleeceware at bay. Such updates roll out throughout the year. In this overview we compile a weekly overview of the security updates. Is your device in the list below, but you haven’t received anything yet? No worries. It usually takes a few days to weeks for all instances of a device to be updated.

Oppo

Oppo has started rolling out Android 11 for its current flagship, the Find X2 Pro. The rollout is accompanied by the latest version of their own skin: ColorOS 11.

Samsung

Last week a long list of Android and security updates for all kinds of Samsung devices. This week is (therefore) a bit sparse with only one security patch for the Galaxy A7 (2018).

Xiaomi

The November security update is ready for the Redmi Note 9.

No update?

Is your device not listed? Which can. Manufacturers release updates throughout the year, so maybe your device will be there next time. Even if your smartphone is on the list, you may still have to be patient. It usually takes a few days to a week for an Android security update to be rolled out to all devices.
