Android Planet update you daily about smartphone updates. Usually it concerns devices that receive a version update, for example if they are updated to Android 10 or Android 10. For this we have created the Android 10 overview and Android 11 overview. In these overview articles you can see exactly if and when your phone will be updated.

However, security updates are just as important. These patches keep troubles like adware, malware, ransomware and fleeceware at bay. Such updates roll out throughout the year. In this overview we compile a weekly overview of the security updates. Is your device in the list below, but you haven’t received anything yet? No worries. It usually takes a few days to weeks for all instances of a device to be updated.

Samsung

Samsung rolled out One UI 3.0 for the Galaxy S20 series last week, with the exception of the FE. Samsung’s own software is based on Android 11, the latest version of the operating system. Furthermore, a lot of Samsung devices received the most recent Android security update.

Sony

Sony recently updated some recently released smartphones to the penultimate Android security update. No functional improvements have been added.

OnePlus

OnePlus has rolled out the November security update for four of its smartphones, including the already fairly old OnePlus 6 and 6T. The company has also added some functional updates, including an extension to the Game Space app.

  1. OnePlus 6 – November 2020 security update
  2. OnePlus 6T – November 2020 security update
  3. OnePlus 8 – November 2020 security update

Xiaomi

Xiaomi updated the Mi 10 Pro to Android 11 last week. The Poco F2 Pro, which is technically released by Poco as a separate brand, is also completely up to date.

Nokia

A quiet week for HMD Global. The company behind the Nokia phones only released one update. The security level of the Nokia 6.2, which recently received an update, has not been tinkered with; the device is running on the November patch. Presumably HMD has solved some problems.

Huawei

Huawei has also taken it easy in the past. The Nova 5T, which is identical in content to the Honor 20, now runs on the Android security update from October.
