The Witcher 3 gets free DLC thanks to Netflix

Netflix and CD Projekt Red are joining forces to bring The Witcher 3 some free DLC in the spirit of the hit TV series.

The Witcher is all the rage after the first WitchCon convention this weekend. Fans of the franchise can expect a lot of goodies in the coming time. A new Netflix spin-off was announced. We also got the first taste of season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher. Finally, CD Projekt Red also briefly announces that – 6 years later – new content is coming to The Witcher 3 thanks to Netflix.

The Witcher 3 is getting Netflix DLC

The legendary The Witcher 3 will receive a major free update to next-gen later this year. The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC can expect improved graphics and mechanics. As an added bonus, game owners get something extra.

CD Projekt Red also has a presumably small portion of free Netflix DLC for The Witcher 3 in store. The official Twitter account talks about multiple ‘DLCs’ inspired by the wildly popular Netflix series.

The official banner (see above) announces some “items” inspired by the Netflix show. So it could be that only some weapons are coming to the game. Hopefully the developer will also add some outfits from the series to the game. Perhaps the in-game characters even get the likeness of the Netflix actors. By the way, if the Polish developer wants to score real points, will they add some missions from the show to the game?!

The Witcher Season 2

The free content is part of promotion for the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher. This weekend the first official trailer was shown and in it we see a lot of badass Henry Cavill. So far, the British actor was still missing in the promotional material. Season 2 will be released on Netflix on December 17, and The Witcher 3 may receive the free DLC around that same time.
