The Snowtopia -apkrig ski tycoon came out in a preliminary approach

The situation around the coronavirus pandemic does not wish for a holiday in the mountains this year either, which was at least partially decided by the authors of the independent ski tycoon Snowtopia. The approximately 10-member Tea for two studio, located on the outskirts of Paris in Ivry-sur-Seine, has been working on its project for over two years, which, despite various alpha versions and last year’s demo, is finally gaining preliminary access to Steam. For 20 euros you get the opportunity to open your virtual ski resort, build slopes, lifts and facilities for visitors and try to satisfy all skiers who visit your resort. It is the balance of the offered services and the demand for them that is the whole concept of the game, which, unlike other tycoons, does not take into account the financial side of things and lets you build as you like, almost without restriction.

Everyone who has been to the mountains at least once has a relatively good idea of what the goal of the game is. More than 10 types of skiers with different abilities and requirements will gradually visit the resort, and the player, as the resort administrator, must respond to them adequately. As the available trailers and demos from the game suggest, it is necessary to choose a suitable place to draw slopes, think about their difficulty, as well as how to transport skiers to the top and constantly monitor whether news and changes are liked by visitors. However, the mentioned absence of money does not mean that there are no limits in the game – although the player can build without restrictions, he needs staff who will take care of the buildings and slopes. This is probably where the name of the game – Snowtopia – comes from employees you will hire volunteers from the ranks of satisfied visitors.

However, the developers warn that even such a utopia of gambling will not exist and suggest that in addition to finding labor, players will also have to face accidents and misfortunes.

They will then take care of maintenance, repairs and service for other skiers and make sure that the resort works as planned. This will ideally increase his reputation, which will attract more visitors for a change and everything will start to spin in the expected tycoon circle. However, the developers warn that even such a utopia of gambling will not exist, and suggest that in addition to finding labor, players will also have to face accidents and misfortunes, which will increase along with the growing number of skiers. They mention, for example, that the difficulty of the slopes will be determined by changes in the weather, and players are supposed to reckon with the fact that families with children will definitely not go to the icy blue. But there can be many more similar obstacles in the game and we must not forget that Snowtopia is only in the preliminary access program. In addition, according to the developers, it should spend two years there, given the complexity and complexity of the systems that are said to be behind Snowtopia.

The last thing developers on Steam are also well-deserved moments of rest. The game offers relatively generous camera zooming options, which allow you to look at the slopes almost through the eyes of skiers, or enjoy the view of the entire resort from the terrace of the restaurant in the middle of the slope. However, the graphic presentation does not yet offer much detail, regardless of respecting the chosen visual style. Certain shortcomings are known, for example, at the queues in front of the lifts, which are very static and the commuting of skiers is not very flattering. There are also the first ratings, which go in depth and mention, for example, that the whole concept is exhausted relatively quickly and in the game there is nothing to do, or it is difficult to rebuild ski lifts and other already finished places. We will see where the people from Tea for two will be able to move the game, and whether the feedback from the players will help to bend some mechanisms towards more fun or challenge.
