the price tag of the Realme GT 5G draws your attention

Get the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset from Qualcomm for less than 600 euros? There is currently only one way, with the Realme GT 5G. Realme thinks the GT 5G is excellent value for money. Tuesday we asked the Androidword reader how they stand in this topic, and today you can read the results.

Realme seems to be slowly taking over the baton of very affordable high-performance phones from its sister company, OnePlus. With the Realme GT 5G, it puts one of the most powerful phones on the market in its price segment. Under the hood we find the lightning-fast Snapdragon 888 chipset, combined with 128 or 256 GB storage memory and respectively 8 and 12 GB working memory. The device also gets a smooth 120 Hz AMOLED screen, with a Full HD + resolution and a 6.43-inch screen diagonal.

The screen is therefore smaller than that of many competitors. Still, Realme managed to equip the phone with a 4,500 mAh battery, the same capacity as in the OnePlus 8T. Charging is just as fast as on the 8T, with a maximum of 65 watts. Other features you would expect from a high-end phone – such as an in-screen fingerprint scanner, video recording at 60 FPS in 4K, and two speakers on either side of the phone for stereo sound – are also present on the Realme GT 5G.

Realme has taken a number of measures to reduce costs. For example, the phone is completely made of plastic and the GT 5G gets an 8 MP wide-angle camera on the back, while the 8T still got a 16 MP wide-angle camera. Below the line, despite the cost-saving measures, a very competitive phone remains. If you want to learn everything about the telephone, you can read this article.

AW Poll, what do you think

With the GT 5G, Realme will compete with the OnePlus 8T and the Galaxy S20 FE, as well as high-end phones with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. Is the price-quality ratio of Realme’s GT 5G sufficient for that? You think so. In Tuesday’s AW Poll, 68.1 percent of readers say that the phone has an excellent price-quality ratio. Still, not everyone is happy with the GT 5G – 14.2 percent of readers say they disagree with our statement that the phone is excellent value for money.

AW Poll: the price tag of the Realme GT 5G attracts your attention

The reason given in the comments is that Realme’s update policy is still unknown, and that the phone lacks some details – such as an IP rating and the ability to charge wirelessly. Samsung offers that, for example, on its Galaxy S20 FE (5G). Although you have to make do with that phone with an older chipset, you do get other functions in return.

Do you agree, or do you think the chipset in the Realme GT 5G offers so much value that it’s more important than water resistance and wireless charging? We are already curious, so let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article.
