The PostNL app will replace the ‘Non-home letter’ during the trial

PostNL starts with a trial in which you no longer receive a non-home letter if you miss the parcel deliverer. We are looking at whether people can be informed in a smarter way about their package. We will tell you more about it.

PostNL without a non-home letter

PostNL has sent a message to a limited group about a new trial being carried out by the postal company. The company wants to test whether it can be informed in a smarter way about your packages that are on the way. In the period from February 8, 2021 to March 28, 2021, the people concerned will no longer receive a note that the parcel deliverer has been. Instead, they are kept informed via the PostNL app and by e-mail. In this way, PostNL wants to test whether it is still necessary to receive a non-home letter.

The PostNL trial is running in three areas. This does not concern fixed places, but areas around three sorting centers; Den Hoorn, Nieuwegein and Waddinxveen. Those who are part of the trial have been informed of the project by email. This prevents people who cannot be reached digitally from not being kept informed of their package.

According to PostNL, the paper notes are unnecessary. It also saves paper (and therefore the environment) and also costs less time for the delivery person. PostNL will evaluate the trial at the end of March. At the moment it has not been said that the paper notes will disappear.
