The post office is introducing new fees. For shipments from China, you pay extra VAT and € 2

From 1 July, new obligations apply to clients when purchasing goods from countries outside the European Union. The changes are part of the pan-European eCommerce project. All goods coming into the EU from third countries must go through customs.

An electronic customs declaration for consignments up to 22 euros was not yet needed, so the post office only submitted them to the customs authorities for control. These consignments are now also subject to VAT and must be subject to an electronic customs declaration.

Until the customs office releases the consignment for free circulation, it is stored in the warehouse of the temporary obstacle of Slovenská pošta. This means that the post office worker must bring it in, register it, label it and store it in the warehouse. Regardless of whether the client performs the customs clearance himself or through Slovenská pošta, the post office must store the consignment until it is released for free circulation by the customs office.

This means increased costs for mail. On a daily basis, the post office will receive an average of 30,000 items with a value of less than 22 euros. The post office will charge a fee of € 2. The client can decide whether the customs clearance will handle the mail automatically or he will solve it himself. In this case, they must inform about this by sending the Disagreement form to the email address odmietnutie.ekc150@posta.sk, at least 48 hours before the arrival of the shipment in the territory of the Slovak Republic. However, you will not avoid the two-euro fee.
