The new update improves file sharing security

Like YouTube, it’s a cloud service Google Disk Google brings an update to increase the security of content sharing. According to the portal AndroidPolice however, this may disable old links that you have shared with other users.

Users will need to re-request access to older shared files

You can create a URL link on Google Drive, which you can then send to anyone to share the content it links to. The other user then has access to it until you delete the content or move it to another folder. From September 13, there will be a change, when the link itself will be supplemented with a security key.

Google says this is just a security enhancement. As with YouTube, it will be possible to reject this update. However, this update can have a slightly annoying side effect on older shared lines.

After all, if someone tries to open the original URL format for a file in Google Drive after September 13, they will need to request access. This can cause a flood of new requests to access such files, which can be annoying for the shareholder. Fortunately, the news will not affect users if they have already opened the link before that date.

Workspace and YouTube will receive the same update

The paid Workspace service for corporate clients will also receive this update. Its administrators will have until July 23 to decide whether to use it in their company. It will be possible to use it with restrictions or even at all, and personal users will get the same options. The search giant will begin sending out change notifications on July 26, and users will have to make a decision by September 13.

Of course, Google allows you not to apply this update, but it doesn’t strongly recommend it. In addition, some changes will be introduced to the popular YouTube platform on July 23, again to improve security. Old video links will stop working and will affect all non-public videos uploaded before January 1, 2017, which will automatically be marked private from the date mentioned above.
