The new Ultimate General will take you through the American Revolution -apkrig

The Ukrainian studio Game-Labs, which has strategies from the Ultimate General series, as well as the Indian stealth event This Land is My Land, is quietly working on a game about the American Revolution and the War of Independence. Which is, I must admit, my favorite historical theme, and I’ve always been surprised that video games don’t play him as often as one would expect given the circumstances. Ultimate General: The American Revolution will focus on the rebellion of the American colonies against the British crown, and we will enjoy the subsequent conflict from the perspective of both sides.

The authors promise a detailed three-dimensional map where it will be possible to build an army and navy, build military infrastructure and control their units. On the same map, however, it is possible to zoom in directly on the battlefield, where massive encounters are to take place. The battle will take place in real time, with the help of generals you can give orders to your men on the battlefield. The degree of all involvement should depend only on the preference of the player himself. But if you want, you can have full control over your units.

If you do not ensure a safe supply route, your food and weapons can fall into the hands of the enemy.

However, the outcome of the battle is decided in part before it even begins. You must equip your men and assign capable commanding officers to them. It is necessary to decide whether to build a completely new unit from the recruits, or to use them to supplement previous losses. The authors themselves say that such decisions can have a huge impact on the further development of the war. Of course, you can’t do without supplies. You must have enough food, weapons and ammunition. The fortifications will be useful when training special units or in bad weather.

Supply routes need to be planned so that your armies and fleets do not run out of resources. Every shot costs something, the authors point out, and winning a war means having a lot of ammunition and gunpowder. But none of this will reach you automatically. Therefore, you must also take care of production – agriculture and manufacturing. The richer your regions are, the larger army you will be able to afford. If you do not ensure a safe supply route, your food and weapons can fall into the hands of the enemy.

The morality and loyalty of the population should also play a role. If you suffer too many losses and lose many battles, the recruits will not rush into your ranks and you will lose the support of the population. Directly in battle, it depends on visibility and terrain. When attacking from a hill, you are of course more effective, the rivers are natural obstacles, on the contrary, you can hide in the forest or surprise the enemy with its help.

The authors also promise realistic ballistics. According to them, care must be taken not to accidentally injure your own units, which can cause panic in your ranks. As the campaign continues, your commanders will improve, but they may also be killed or injured. More experienced generals should not only be more effective, but may also have some special benefits. Of course, you will come across various historical figures. The pictures from the game show George Washington and Charles Cornwallis.

At the beginning of the battle, when all actions are scheduled, the first batch of orders is executed instantly, but the later ones are worth the time.

The function of a delayed order also sounds very interesting. It takes to deliver it, and the farther the unit is from the general, the more time the journey takes. At the beginning of the battle, when all actions are scheduled, the first batch of orders is executed instantly, but the later ones are worth the time. However, according to the authors, this function is optional and you can turn it off if you are not interested.

Game-Labs lure you with advanced artificial intelligence that can take advantage of terrain inequalities, attack you from the side and take advantage of your weaknesses. Enemies can hide and retreat if they have no hope of victory. They can also capture your unprotected artillery. The Navy should also play an important role, as has already been said. You will use it to supply and transport soldiers. Here, too, the authors promise maximum realism and a detailed model of damage.

Join, or Die

Of course, the US Continental Army and the British will face each other. While Americans must build an army literally out of nothing, they have the advantage of a domestic “playground.” But you are not only fighting the enemy, but also the hearts of the colonists, many of whom are still loyal to the crown. From the position of the British, you are trying to suppress the rebel uprising and regain control of the colonies. You have a powerful, experienced army and fleet, as well as a strong economy, but far beyond the ocean, so supplies will be all the more complicated. Without sufficient political influence, your demands will be rejected by parliament. This is probably King George III. will not be happy…

Ultimate General: The American Revolution does not have a tent or tentative release date at the moment, but it looks very interesting. Perhaps its authors will not disappoint the result will be just as amusing. Gettysburg and Civil War have already been released as part of the Ultimate General series. But Game-Labs are also working on Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail, Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts and Naval Action.

The American Revolution and the War of Independence in the Games

One might imagine that such an important historical stage must have had a dramatic effect on video games. No, there are fewer such titles than you probably think. Or at least the essential or successful ones. He deals with the American Revolution from newer games Assassin’s Creed III or the strategy Empire: Total War. If you don’t just fish among modern titles, you might be interested in older pieces of American Conquest, Birth of America, Sons of Liberty, Liberty or Death or Revolution ’76. From the independent scene, it is worth mentioning Children of Liberty.
