The new alternative to the Nintendo Switch can do that
Razer has unveiled its Wi-Fi and 5G handheld called the Edge, but hasn’t released it yet. The direct competition to the Nintendo Switch focuses primarily on cloud gaming and Android games. It comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen. The Razer Kishi V2 Pro serves as the controller.
Razer Edge: New handheld console introduced
Razer, together with chip manufacturer Qualcomm and US mobile communications provider Verizon, has presented a new handheld console that focuses on cloud gaming. GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass are available as services. Thanks to the integrated Steam link, you can also stream games from the local network. Android games can even be installed locally. The manufacturer himself describes the Edge as the “ultimate Android gaming handheld”.
One of the highlights concerns the screen. Here, Razor relies on an AMOLED display that has a diagonal of 6.8 inches and offers a high refresh rate of 144 Hz. The resolution is 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. With such a display, the battery must not be too small, the manufacturer states 5,000 mAh as the capacity. Razer does not reveal how long the battery lasts in everyday use.
The SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage are available. The capacity can be expanded by up to 2 TB via a microSD card. A headphone jack and a USB-C port are included, as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E.
The new controller Razer Kishi V2 Pro puts Razer in the package. Previously, the controller was not available as a Pro version. The handheld weighs a total of 401 grams (source: Razer).

Razer Edge starting at $399
Razer offers the Edge in the USA from spring 2023 for 399 US dollars in the WLAN variant. How much has to be paid for the 5G variant has not yet been determined. It also remains unclear whether the handheld will also be sold in Europe in the future.
