The most anticipated games of 2022, part four -apkrig

Our series on the most anticipated games of this year is coming to an end. Today we will shine a light on the rest of the titles, which are due to arrive this year, but we do not know the exact release date. Again, you don’t have to find all the great games we look forward to in our selection. We tried to identify the most general ones. On the contrary, they have removed some titles from the list, which we already fear are not enough by the end of the year.

Hogwarts Legacy

Already in September 2020, the developers of Avalanche Software introduced Hogwarts Legacy after many years of speculation and leaks. Although the game was until then nicknamed the RPG from the world of Harry Potter, in the game we look back to a much more distant past, specifically to the end of the 19th century, when a carriage arrives at the school of spells and magic in Hogwarts with a new student. However, we still do not know exactly what the content of the game will be beyond the expected teaching of the various branches of the magic craft, and this is also the biggest stumbling block of general expectations. We haven’t seen anything about the game except one, albeit very tempting, video, and when it was talked about, it was always about an apology that fans had to wait for new news. But based on a handful of official information, General Manager Warner Bros. last year she confirmed that the release of Hogwarts Legacy is the second big event of 2022 after the release of Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets, so we still hope that it will finally end. It should be added, however, that conflicting signs are already beginning to appear, and behind the scenes, there is again a rumor of a possible postponement until 2023.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The action adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is created in the Daedalic Entertainment studio and its main character is, of course, the title Glum. The game for PC and console will introduce us to the split personality of the protagonist, who will constantly engage in internal combat. We go to the Ring in a story that reveals more about what Glum did when he wasn’t being watched by a book story. Glum is no valiant warrior, so we must act cunningly and cunningly like himself. We will sneak in the shadows, hide behind obstacles and lurk for lone enemies that we will only kill if we use the moment of surprise to our advantage. The play is supposed to be full of choices, and even though the authors initially said that they would choose a different style than the famous film adaptations, in the end it is clear that The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

This Cinderella is also on the field of superhero games, which are to be released later this year. Midnight Suns from the Firaxis studio will be a strategy, which may not be attractive enough in a flood of all action titles. But we are talking about the team that is behind the fantastic processing of XCOM and that is what Midnight Suns is based on. But not quite literally, because we will still control superheroes, and the trench warfare so typical of XCOM doesn’t do them much good. The developers therefore decided to process the duel in a slightly different way, specifically using cards that evoke individual effects and abilities, from which they promise sufficient diversification of the whole concept and the opportunity to break out of their own strong legacy. In Midnight Suns, we come across a very diverse selection of heroes, such as Blade, Ghost Rider, Captain America or Iron Man, with whom a completely new character will work – Hunter. He, or she, is a descendant of Lilith, the mother of all demons, who decided to return to the world and try to enslave him again. There will also be a socialization layer, getting to know individual partners and unlocking other possibilities, even through dialogue options. If all goes well, the game will arrive in the second half of the year after its postponement.

The Outlast Trials

Canadian studio Red Barrels will release the first person psychological survival horror film The Outlast Trials this year. The prequel to the previous two games is set in the Cold War, and this time you don’t have to worry only about yourself, but also with other friends. We have to survive Murkoff’s bizarre, perverted and sadistic experiments in up to four people. We will become involuntary guinea pigs in a brainwashing and mind control program. The authors say that if we work together, we may survive. The title is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and is apparently the biggest departure from the brand’s original formula. So far, the game only targets the PC.

Redfall

Another cooperative event is due to arrive this summer, which will want to stand up to challengers from the past and present. Whether your heart is pounding for Left 4 Dead, you’ve watched Back 4 Blood, or you’re looking forward to Rainbow Six Extraction, Redfall will be ready to give you an alternative. The undeniable attraction is the fact that the Arkane studio is working on the game, and that in addition to the cooperative multiplayer game, the title will also offer a purebred single player. There will be four very stylized characters to choose from, with a unique story background, abilities and equipment, who will stand together against vampires and other human enemies. The game is set in the island town of Redfall in the state of Massachusetts and takes place in the time after an unsuccessful scientific experiment, after which the Earth was attacked by a legion of vampires and our heroes have to literally break out. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a bit of the game yet, because the first CGI trailer was only supposed to create an atmosphere and introduce both sides. There is no fixed date, but if the game comes out this year, the owners of the PC and Xbox Series will see it.

Sniper Elite 5

Karl Fairburne returns to the scene in Sniper Elite 5 from the British studio Rebellion. The year is 1944 and we will go to France to discover the mysterious Kraken project. The title for PC and console attracts real places, singles and improved cooperation. We will have even more varied possibilities of movement and we have to thoroughly adjust all our equipment. In addition to cooperation, you can also break into another player’s game and complicate his mission in PvP mode. And of course there is also a classic multiplayer for 16 players or a survival mode for up to four players. The developers promise, among other things, to improve the famous slow-motion X-ray kill cameras, which have become a hallmark of the entire series. They are supposed to be more brutal and realistic again, and these scenes will also trigger submachine guns and pistols.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

The penultimate game of our list of this year’s most anticipated titles is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The developers from Rocksteady, the authors of the famous Akrham series with Batman, return to the superhero action genre, playing this time with the idea of ​​what would happen if the positive heroes from this universe went wild and under the rule of the cruel Brainiac instead of helping. The wedge will be pounded by another wedge in this game in the form of the infamous Suicide Squad, whose members we will try to tame. These are Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot and King Shark, who will fight not only with the literally wasted inhabitants of Metropolis, but also with the dark versions of Superman, Wonder Woman or Green Lantern. Unlike other titles in this list, we have been able to look at the game in detail in gameplay footage and it is beginning to surface that, regardless of sympathy or antipathy to Suicide Squad, it will probably be another good ride.

GTA V, Sorcerer 3 and Cyberpunk 2077

This year will be rich in various ports, remasters and improved versions. But three of them undoubtedly stand out from the rest – Grand Theft Auto V, Sorcerer 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The reason is the fact that they can attract millions of new players beyond rock fans and significantly extend the life cycle of already successful titles. The improved version of GTA was announced in 2020 and is to bring technical and content innovations. The upgraded Sorcerer is created in the Saber Interactive studio and should, in addition to the usual improvements, also bring some content inspired by a serial adaptation. And the Cyberpunk 2077 line of PS5 and Xbox Series owners looks forward to not only improving the graphics, but also bringing more combed and comprehensive content than the debut version.

And we’re at the end, we have a long list of titles that you most likely have on your calendars and are looking forward to their release. Unfortunately, this did not happen without sacrifices this year either, for example in connection with the continuation of STALKER, which was postponed to December, but we do not live at a certain time when it comes to meeting the deadlines, so it is necessary to take it. It is also positive that all the games we mention are just the tip of the iceberg and there are a whole host of others, we doubt their release in 2022, or they will not come to us as universally expected. It can include, for example, Ubisoft’s Avatar, a remake of the horror movie Dead Space, the coveted sequel to Bayonetta or Zelda, Steelrising and many, many others, which we hope will make us happy in the coming months.
