The Mandalorian Season 3 release date and spin-off teaser

The Mandalorian season 3 will have a release date that exactly matches the release of the already announced spin-off. How will that work?

Disney + hit series The Mandalorian pretty much carries the Star Wars universe right now. Not surprising, then, that we want to look ahead to season 3 of the show. Unfortunately we have to wait a little longer for that. There is a gigantic icing on the cake; a spin-off series with a famous character.

Spoiler alert: The spin-off teaser is a post credit scene from The Mandalorian S2E8 and features a cameo from a famous character. If you want to be completely surprised, come back later.

The Mandalorian season 3

There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding The Mandalorian season 3 and that has everything to do with the release date. In a recent conversation with investors, CEO Kathleen Kennedy said the ‘next chapter in the Mandalorian story’ will be released in December of 2021.

The crazy thing is, according to Disney, there is only one Star Wars show planned for that month. That’s a spin-off series called The Book of Boba Fett. The iconic character from the original trilogy returned in The Mandalorian season 2. Now it appears that he is getting his own spin-off show.

But that spin-off has been set for December 2021, or the supposed release date of The Mandalorian season 3. So something crazy is going on. You could imagine the two similar bounty hunter shows come out at the same time. That would be a bit strange.

On the other hand, it could be that The Mandalorian gets a different name and / or merges with The Book of Boba Fett. Because The Mandalorian is divided into Chapters, the spin-off could possibly also make up a number of Chapters from The Mandalorian S3. Or Kathleen Kennedy has spoken a little bit?

Anyway, in December 2021 we’ll get something from Star Wars. What exactly, we have to wait for a while.
