The first batch of proven games that run on Steam Deck -apkrig

The first games for Steam Deck received a rating from Valve informing players about the level of compatibility, as we announced recently. More than half of the tested titles were excellent. The list appeared in the SteamDB database. 67 games have already been reviewed, in which players know their status so that they can decide whether they are suitable for Steam Deck. Forty of them promise to run without any restrictions or hassles. Examples include Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Dark Souls III, Death Stranding, Dishonored, Mad Max, Portal 2, Psychonauts 2 or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The other 24 are marked as playable, which means that they work, but players may encounter some inconvenience. For example, by entering text and optimizing controls. Only five games have not passed the test at all, and in four cases they are VR games. The last one is Persona 4 Golden. The reason is unknown, but remedial action should be taken.

In this context, it is necessary to recall that the rating may change over time. The game can be additionally marked as compatible, but this status must also be lost after the update. Hopefully, however, it will usually be about improvement rather than the other way around. Authors must keep in mind the smooth operation, the correct icons and interfaces, the resolution of the Steam Deck, the readable interface and text, the performance or middleware and anti-cheat tools used and their compatibility.

Valheim should be marked “only” as playable because it sometimes displays elements for the mouse and keyboard instead of the controller. Subnautica, on the other hand, does not allow you to control anything directly and you need to use a virtual keyboard or touch screen. Sorcerer 3 may not surprise you by saying that some of the texts are too small and illegible.

Steam does not yet display a rating on compatibility with the Steam Deck, although this limitation can be circumvented with the help of a groundbreaking trick, which was described, for example, by PC Gamer magazine. Of course, in the end, this information will start to appear in the usual way, and then the orientation in the menu will be much easier for customers.

Due to the gigantic offer of Steam, there is still a lot of work ahead of the authors and testers.
