The father of the ZX Spectrum computer Clive Sinclair -apkrig died

Sir Clive Sinclair, a British inventor, technology pioneer and father of the ZX Spectrum computer, died at the age of 81. He succumbed to a long illness. He became famous in the seventies and eighties.

Sinclair has created a pocket calculator, the ZX80, ZX81 and ZX Spectrum computers, which have made it an immortal icon of the digital world. His computers have made a major contribution to the spread of similar machines among ordinary people thanks to the affordable price. Of course, like every pioneer, he also had a few unsuccessful projects, which does not change the fact that he and his products have significantly affected our world of video games.

Ups and downs

And after all, ideas that have not made a big hole in the world or have not received a greater commercial response are, from today’s point of view, in many ways at least an interesting curiosity. Such as the 1985 Sinclair C5 electric three-wheeled vehicle or the 1992 Sinclair Zike electric bicycle. Alternatively, the 1983 portable mini TV TV80.

Despite being a technological pioneer, Clive Sinclair himself was not impressed by every similar innovation. But this is often the case. For example, sci-fi writer Ray Bradbury did not like computers or the Internet and was afraid of airplanes.

Knight of Ones and Zeros

Sinclair was quite similar. He allegedly did not use the Internet or e-mail. Not that he didn’t understand them, he just didn’t like them. He found these things annoying and disturbing. Something that pulls him out of his research. He said he didn’t even use computers properly and preferred the phone. He also warned against trying to create machines that surpass human intelligence. In contrast, he loved poker and was a member of Mensa.

As early as 1983, Clive Sinclair was knighted and received many other honors and recognitions during his lifetime. He invented and researched according to his loved ones until the last moment. He died at home in the circle of his family.
