The Czechs attacked mobile data on New Year’s Eve. All operators report records

As after Christmas Day, Czech operators shared interesting statistics on the use of their networks on the last day of the year. And just like at Christmas, so does on New Year’s Eve, the Czechs set several records. These are, of course, very closely related to the current (anti) viral situation and regulations. Operators’ statistics for New Year’s Eve 2020 show that, compared to last year, the volumes of data transmissions jumped extremely.

Vodafone reports the largest percentage jump in transferred data. His customers took advantage of them an incredible 93% more. It was 899 terabytes, with the peak occurring between 9 pm and 10 pm. Czech O2 recorded an increase of 77.5% to a total of 1,643 terabytes, with the biggest jump reportedly for Instagram. T-Mobile reports an even higher volume of data, which was ensured by an almost 50% increase. His customers left transfer 1,756 terabytes.

For calls, which, of course, generally peaked around midnight, it recorded increase numbers only O2. In his case, the statistics rose by 3% to 16,567,648 connections. T-Mobile reports a slight decrease of 0.93%, however, again the highest overall number. It was about 22 111 933 calls. Vodafone recorded a decrease in the number of telephone calls by 12% and the total number is 16,041,313.

Just like on Christmas Day the number of sent SMS dropped the most. T-Mobile transmitted more than two million fewer messages, from a total of approximately 13.7 million, the amount decreased to 11,512,994. Vodafone transmitted 5,977,029 messages, which is 23% decrease. At O2, the number of messages fell by 17% to 8,255,917.
