A number of foreign media received a preview version, and individual editors agree that Ascent not only looks good, but also has great control. It is an isometric rainy and properly dark looting RPG, whose distinctive feature is the popular twin-stick action control. And because we’re moving in the cyberpunk genre, there will seem to be enough shooting. For example, IGN journalist Ryan McCaffrey claims that although Ascent can be played on a keyboard, this is exactly the type of game that will be even better controlled with a gamepad. Interestingly, however, although you are looking at the game with an isometric camera, it is also necessary to shoot over yourself, either from one of the many covers, or in short for higher efficiency of shooting into the heads of enemies, not into their chests.

Equally important are the tricks and rolls, which make it possible to avoid swarms of enemies or attacks by large bosses. And players will further combine all this with the gradual improvement of the protagonist’s abilities, including special abilities, but only two of them can always be active. Everything is supposed to be connected to the story, which, according to WCCFtech magazine, should be a key component of the overall atmosphere. The last part, which the available preview deals with, is a typical topic of the cyberpunk genre – ie mechanical augmentation and their influence not only on efficiency the individual, but also his mental state and condition in general. So far, however, developers do not seem to want to reveal too much, and only in “game” language do they explain that augmentations can be obtained and gradually improved. An example is a hydraulic strike that records similar tactical options and decisions for those who like melee combat, but there should be more in The Ascent, which can of course guarantee replayability. It’s just a matter of randomly hacking, breaking locks or controlling enemies, which can be quite interesting, especially in cooperation – which the game also offers.

So far, it seems that under the hands of the developers of Neon Giant, a surprisingly tempting affair is emerging, and we are all the happier that it will arrive in two months. In the end, summer may not be as boring as it used to be in previous years…
