The best photos from our reviews ApkRig

The year 2020 is (finally) coming to an end. We are therefore looking back at our numerous smartphone tests this year. To be more precise, the photos we took with the test devices. Here come the most beautiful pictures from the CURVED reviews!

Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro / Lite

At the start, probably the best photo we took in 2020. Guido has picked out a very special little guy to test the portrait mode of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. And there is probably no CURVED editor who does not say “Wow!” responded. The following shot can’t be beat in terms of cuteness either.

In addition, we were on a photo tour with the Mi 10T Pro and 10T Lite. Here we tested the various camera features of the smartphones and shot a whole series of pictures that you should have seen. In the gallery below you will find another fishy photo and also a rainbow from Guido’s Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro test.

iPhone 12

Of course, the photos from our test of the iPhone 12 should not be missing either. Colleague Francis put a lot of effort into this and visited different places in Hamburg to take some cool pictures. The colors and contrast that the Apple smartphone delivers is very impressive. When it comes to cameras, Apple is right at the top of our 2020 smartphone tests.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra was particularly lucky. The test device reached us at a convenient time and was allowed to go on a short vacation to Denmark for the review. The fivefold optical zoom in particular has shown its strength here – which is why even a deer family made it onto our photos. But also the high level of detail of the main camera made for fun on the beach and in the dunes.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro

Our review of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is still quite fresh. The smartphone with what is probably the best camera from 2020. Here, Lars has put a lot of effort into writing “CURVED” with a flashlight. We haven’t had this in any smartphone test before.

Google Pixel 4a and Google Pixel 5

We also had a lot of fun with the new pixel smartphones. We packed it up for a photo tour and compared it with a professional camera. We took a lot of good pictures with the Google phones. Starting with a Christmas tree ball over a cozy fireplace to an underwater shot and a “Forced Perspective” shot.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

We also had a lot of fun with the Galaxy S20 FE in the test. Be it on the roofs of Hamburg, in an attic or at night. The optical zoom also helped here. How to defy the gray season!

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite and Redmi Note 9 Pro

In the middle of the first home office months, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite reached us. Our first smartphone tests in 2020 after the lockdown. That restricted the freedom of movement for photos. Nevertheless, we managed to take a few coherent shots here, too, which let us look back on the warm days of this year.

iPhone SE (2020)

The iPhone SE (2020) was released in spring 2020. A really tiny cell phone that doesn’t need to hide in terms of camera quality. Here we took some photos for our test in the port of Hamburg.

Huawei P Smart 2021

You don’t always need a good mid-range or top model for beautiful photos. This proof was provided by Guido, who kidnapped the P Smart 20201 in a test through Hamburg and took the following photo.

Out of competition: smartphone test shoots in lockdown

Finally, we want to come back to the year 2020 itself, which presented us all with challenges. The first lockdown in particular brought the CURVED editorial team into an unprecedented situation. Because test smartphones continued to arrive that urgently wanted to be examined carefully.

The office was swept empty and we stayed at home. What do you do in such a situation? You get creative and use all the aids that are available outside of the professional studio and your colleagues: a reflex camera, many additional smartphones to replace the studio light – and motifs such as your own washing machine, television and washing bowl, the record collection and the balcony and garden of relatives.

Behind this admittedly small problem is a big message: You just keep going. One fights. You learn to deal with the situation. In short: you don’t give up.

Especially if the Corona crisis hit you hard, we wish you lots of strength, health and happiness for the coming year.
