Disney + and Netflix are not taking a break over Christmas and the Christmas holidays, but are releasing not only a new film with stars like Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio, but also a Korean series that will take you into space. Here are our weekend tips!

You no longer need feel-good films about the holidays? Then Netflix offers you too Don’t look up a political satire that has it all. With Hollywood greats like Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet and Jennifer Lawrence Don’t Look Up is dedicated to a mind game in which second-rate researchers discover a comet that is on a collision course with the earth – only that nobody takes the researchers seriously. To save the world and warn everyone, they have to go on a press tour.
Don’t Look Up was actually supposed to be in cinemas a year ago, but everything had to be postponed as a result of the corona pandemic – which is why the film is now being released on Netflix for home theater. Recommendation!
The Silent Sea on Netflix

If you got a taste for Korean series after Squid Game, you should take a look at The Silent Sea Throwing at Netflix: The science fiction drama sends you into a future in which water and food are scarce on earth. However, a team of astronauts could be on the trail of a solution: They are tasked with recovering a mysterious sample from an abandoned research station on the moon. You can find out what they will find there on Netflix since December 24th.
The Favorite on Disney +

The movie The Favorite, which was released in 2018, but can now be streamed freely on Disney +, is not Christmassy, but nasty, scheming and quite fascinating. The Favorite is without question a film that not everyone will like – but if you are not averse to interesting stories, fantastic acting and (very!) Black humor, you should make up for this film.
The Favorite shows the English royal court in the 18th century, where duck races and orgies play a bigger role than the politics of the country. The eccentric Queen Anne manipulates and is easily manipulable what her friend Lady Sarah takes advantage of – until a new servant enters the court who pursues her very own goals.
If there is time for a movie night between family reunions and Christmas outings, Netflix and Disney + won’t disappoint – both streaming services release some movie and series pearls on Christmas Eve and the days after.
