The authors of the horror film The Evil Within are working on another game -apkrig

The Japanese studio Tango Gameworks, which was founded in 2010 by the author Resident Evil Shinji Mikami, will not release the horror event Ghostwire: Tokyo until next year, but is already working on another title in parallel. Mikami himself revealed this on the occasion of the Tokyo Game Show at a Microsoft event. In this context, it is worth recalling that the Tango Gameworks studio is owned by ZeniMax Media, which has been a part of Microsoft since March this year.

Unfortunately, the development is not led directly by Shinji Mikami, who “only” oversees Ghostwire: Tokyo, but the main author is to be John Johanas, game director of The Evil Within 2. Unfortunately, Mikami did not reveal any other details, but it is highly likely that this The game targets the Xbox and PC. However, other platforms are no longer certain, this may be another potential exclusivity. Ghostwire: Tokyo, which is only the team’s third game, is paradoxically the first to target PS5 and PC as part of a time exclusivity that ZeniMax closed before the Microsoft acquisition, similar to Deathloop.

“You’ll make the best games in 40 years.”

Johanas joined Tango Gameworks in 2010 and also participated in the first part of The Evil Within in 2014 as a visual effects designer. In the case of DLC The Assignment and The Consequence, however, he already wrote the script and led these projects. Mikami has previously stated that he wants to give young talented authors a chance to develop their potential in his team. This is not the first similar case in the case of Johanas. Another was the main author of Ghostwire: Tokyo Ikumi Nakamura, who has already left the studio.

Undoubtedly, this is related to what Shinji Mikami has repeated several times on various occasions. Resident Evil’s father believes that the authors of the games are at the peak between the ages of 30 and 40, when they believe only intuition, have a lot of energy and ideas, and do not allow themselves to be bound or discouraged by the idea that something will not work. But on the other hand, they lack experience. When one gains experience, one is more effective, but one loses some of my intuition. In addition, Mikami emphasizes that creating games requires a lot of energy and time. He believes that he is far from the only one of the developers who created his best games before the age of 40.

One last game from Mikami from A to Z

After forty, according to Mikami, one realizes how much effort is needed to create a game and the whole process is more difficult. The younger developer is also said to be more determined. At a later age, he wants the game to be perfect and still finds flaws. But the novice author trusts his instincts and is convinced that he is making the right decision, which can make the situation easier. The veteran sees potential risks, which may limit his willingness and ability to experiment. Therefore, according to Mikami, it may be easier for a young developer to start the project. An experienced author spends more time thinking about all things in an effort to do his best.

Still, last December, Mikami said he wanted to make one last game. Already at the time he was working on the first part of The Evil Within, he suggested that this could be the last play he is directing. But it doesn’t have to turn out that way. However, in order to win another title, he said, he needed to have really good motivation. “If I had a chance to make a game that matched my vision from start to finish, then it could be my last big project as a game director,” Mikami said. And even if it doesn’t work out, he’s definitely not going to retire. He is said to have other ideas and they are definitely not limited to horror movies. He just doesn’t have to lead their development from the position of a game director, but rather supervise them as a mentor and producer.
