The authors of Enemy Territory announce their own sci-fi -apkrig
The British studio Splash Damage, which specializes in multiplayer events, has games like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Brink or Dirty Bomb. In recent years, however, they have been helping their colleagues with other games, bringing them back to the beginning of their history. In 2001, the former mod authors began assisting with the multiplayer Return to Castle Wolfenstein, later switching to Doom 3 or Batman: Arkham Origins. In recent years, they have helped with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 4, Gears 5 or Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Outside their usual waters, they bravely set out in the turn-based tactical game Gears Tactics, and now, after a long time, they are returning with something of their own.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the team announced that Splash Damage is working on a new game set in some of its own sci-fi universes. “We’ve enjoyed participating in established brands like Wolfenstein, Gears of War and Halo throughout our 20-year history, but we want to create another world of our own, as in the case of Brink, Outcasters and Dirty Bomb,” the developers told fans. And why do they actually announce the novelty so vaguely and without further details? This message is not intended for players, but rather for other developers. Splash Damage invited potential applicants to join them, saying that they would have a direct impact on their project and help shape the future of the study.
Splash Damage is looking for dozens of new employees. At the moment, the team already has over 300 people.
The company is looking for people for all possible technical and artistic positions, and obviously it will be something big, because the endless list of open positions is more like recruiting for a completely new studio. At the moment, the team already has over 300 people. How can a company afford such growth? Given the big games they were involved in, the company certainly didn’t have a deep pocket. More importantly, the Splash Damage was bought by the Chinese giant Leyou in 2016, which last year ended up under the wings of Tencent and colleagues from the Digital Extremes, Certain Affinity or Athlon Games studios.
The management already praised the acquisition at that time, saying that they have all the necessary support and freedom. Studio boss Richard Jolly said that this is the beginning of a new bold chapter of their team, which will bring a number of ambitious games. The newly announced project is undoubtedly one of the first signs of what we can look forward to in the future. Although we will probably wait a long time for the result.
