The 5 Best iPhone Apps and Games of the Week (#26

Video calling with 29 others, never forgetting your medication again and the new app from the maker of WeTransfer. That and more in this weekly roundup of the best iPhone apps, games and update.

1. Telegram

Telegram rolled out a major update to its iOS app last week. This makes the popular chat app an even more serious challenger to WhatsApp. For example, you can now use Telegram to make video calls with up to 30 people. WhatsApp can do this too, but has a limit of 8.

Also great: you can share your screen while video calling. This way the other participants can see what is happening on your screen. Telegram is taking a lead on iOS 15, the iPhone update that will be released later this year. As of iOS 15, iPhone users can share their screen during a FaceTime call.

2. Meddify

Be honest: do you ever forget to take your medicine? In any case, you are not alone, because some studies show that almost half of the drug users do not take their pills or take their pills too late. Meddify wants to do something about this.

The app will send you a notification when it is time for the medication. It states exactly which pill and dose it concerns. Did you accidentally forget it? Then you can indicate this in the app, so that you (and your doctor) have insight into the use of medication.

4. Deposit

Does this app need any explanation? With Deposit you can easily and quickly check whether there is a deposit on your plastic bottles. The app is published by Statiegeld Nederland and responds to the regulations that came into effect last Thursday (1 July).

Since then, there has also been a deposit on some small PET bottles. With the app you scan the barcode of your plastic bottle, after which you will see whether and how much deposit is on it.

5. Huddle

Huddle is best described as a cross between WhatsApp and Snapchat, but only for the people you feel most connected to. The app was set up by the founder of WeTranser, the popular service for sharing (large) files with each other.

You use Huddle to share personal moments with family and close friends. The main difference with other chat apps is that Huddle is purely about video images: almost no text is involved. The design is also well put together. The challenge, of course, is to get your family and friends to switch, because only then will Huddle be here to stay.
