Let’s take a quick look back at the month of July. On the last day of July we published our very extensive weather app test 2021. In August we celebrated our 7.5 year anniversary and so there were many giveaways. Last weekend we listed all the winners. But more happened in August.
Google confirmed the Pixel 6 series at the beginning of the month. Belgium also warned against the use of Chinese smartphones. It was also announced that Xiaomi is the largest smartphone brand in Europe. It’s also good to be vigilant about text messages about a voicemail message that has been left for you. We wrote this in July, and this month the text was again a lot.
Samsung presented the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 and there was also the new Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Buds 2. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy A52s was announced later in the month. Xiaomi came with the new Mi Pad 5 tablets, the Mix 4 and Honor came with the Magic 3. Coming back to Xiaomi; the brand stops using the name ‘Mi’. 1-2-3 refueling
At our southern and eastern neighbors you can fill the fuel tank of your car considerably cheaper. If you are going to Germany, the 1-2-3 Tanken app can come in handy. With this app you can directly search for the cheapest pump; whether you fill up with petrol, diesel or LPG. You will also immediately see additional information about the gas station, such as the address and facilities. For example, in the paid version you can set that you want a notification when the price changes, and you can also consult the price history.
We can’t ignore WhatsApp as the best app either. In August, this app received a lot of attention. In the beta version, the chat bubbles and status bar were given a new coat of paint. WhatsApp Web got a new photo editor and users can use disappearing photos and videos automatically since the beginning of the month. According to the developers of the Dutch popular weather app Buienradar, it was a much requested feature; the 8-hour rain forecast. This functionality can now be found in the Buienradar app. You could already find the precipitation forecast for three hours, for example, now also for 8 hours.
SwiftKey
Microsoft rolled out an update for the SwiftKey keyboard this month. With the latest version of the app, you can not only still type your texts, but you can also manage your tasks from now on. To do this, log in with your Microsoft account and tasks are saved in Microsoft To-Do. When creating a task, which you can do directly via the keyboard, you can also set whether it should be placed in a certain list.
