That’s how absurdly much money Apple made on Fortnite

Until now, it was never known exactly how much money Apple was making on Fortnite, but the lawsuit is now changing that.

Again, the lawsuit between Apple and Fortnite provides delicious insider information about the state of affairs at the companies. This time it is an Apple employee who has to declare in court how much money the App Store operator made on Fortnite. It is clear why the discussions between the two are so heated, as it involves unprecedented amounts of money: $ 100 million to be exact.

Apple makes tons of money from Fortnite

Before Fortnite angrily left the App Store, Apple made roughly $ 100 million, or $ 82 million, according to a rough employee estimate, Bloomberg writes. That’s enough money to make two ‘low budget’ triple-A games like Fortnite (with enough change for one more game).

Although it is not an exact amount, it is clear that Apple made tons of money from Fortnite. It’s different from Epic Games’ perspective; the company had to give an unprecedented amount of money to Apple for the App Store service.

Interestingly, the figures do not quite match previous estimates and reports. It is clear that Apple is making huge profits from the App Store, but last year alone Epic Games would have made over $ 190 million from the iOS version of Fortnite. That would have been $ 60 million in three quarters of a year with a 30% commission.

That while the heyday of Fortnite was long over; the game had been booming via the App Store for a year and a half. It is not entirely clear where that discrepancy comes from, but since it is a crime to lie in court, we will just assume that all of the revenue estimates of Epic’s revenue by analysts were always wrong.
