That should be the new E-SUV

Kia could actually rest on its laurels with the EV6. After all, you don’t build a car of the year every day. But with the concept for the electric SUV EV9, you are now putting a few shovels on top. However, it is questionable whether this is good for the latest e-car.

EV9: Kia presents gigantic electric car study

With the EV9, Kia has not introduced a successor to the EV6. The gigantic E-SUV should rather use the smaller Stromer and bring some innovations with it. But on a completely different scale. Kia fans can expect that 800 volt fast charge technology from the EV6. It should be enough for the EV9 to be able to recharge a range of 100 km in six minutes.

Kia has also already stated the range: around 540 km the electric SUV will be launched in 2023. A few important facts are already clear. However, the details are still being kept silent. The huge E-SUV will need a more powerful battery than its little brother, which was voted Car of the Year this year. When it comes to the dimensions, there is simply no other way: the concept car is 4.93 m long, around 2.06 m wide and an impressive 1.79 m high.

However, it is not yet certain that exactly these dimensions will make it into the production version. On the other hand, the impressive wheelbase of 3.1 m should be certain. A total of the concept presented now is considered to be close to series production. Around 90 percent of what Kia has already presented should also be available for purchase in the future (source: Insideevs). At what price is still open.

Electric SUV is the first Kia to get updates “over the air”

You want to impress with the generous amount of space, sustainable materials in the interior and modern entertainment equipment. So should about one 27-inch display as control center be on board, the exterior mirrors have already been replaced by cameras in the concept.

Unlike the EV9, the Kia EV6 looks modern and slim:

The six-seater will also get various presets for the interior, so that you can sit together during a break. You want to be the first electric car from Kia Over-the-air updates right from the start enable. Kia wants to publish more information shortly before the market launch, so we can probably expect it towards the end of the year.

Assessment of Felix: The EV9 is no guarantee of success for Kia, as the EV6 is likely to remain for some time. Under the slogan “Courage for nature”, strong accents are set in the design, which not all customers will like. I count myself among them. While I’m excited to be sitting in an EV6 for the first time, the EV9 immediately displeases me. For me, the massive box seems out of place on the European market, despite the ramp-up of ever larger SUVs. Who needs this hunk of a car? I would be very surprised if Kia could build on the success of the EV6.
