Test proof in the form of an app on the go for more freedom

To slowly but surely get more freedom, the Dutch government wants to come up with a test certificate. If you have been tested negative for corona, you can go to an event, for example.

Test proof via app

In an interview with De Volkskrant, outgoing minister Hugo de Jonge says that a test certificate is being worked on. With this test certificate you get a little more freedom back, for a certain period of time. For example, with proof of a negative test, it becomes possible to go to an event or to a sports match. It is explicitly stated that grabbing a terrace is not an option with a test certificate.

Little by little, more perspective has to be gained through the test certificates. Incidentally, it is also emphasized that a test certificate does not give a 100 percent guarantee. It can provide a false sense of security and is always a snapshot. The OMT has previously advised that the test certificate be valid for a maximum of 24 hours; De Jonge wants to extend this to 48 hours for practical reasons.

The test certificate is therefore proof that you have tested negative for Covid-19. The GGD’s CoronaCheck app is used for this, which has been in development for months. You can save the test you have undergone by scanning a QR code in the CoronaCheck app. The application also makes it possible to make a test appointment and supervise home tests.

It is expected that from April it should be possible to introduce access tests for events, for example. In this way it must be possible to give a test certificate to several hundred thousand people every day in this way.
