While Tesla has just launched the Fully Autonomous Drive option at $ 200 per month, some buyers are still anxiously waiting to receive their brand new Model S. After months of delay, Tesla finally started deliveries in June 2021. Only, there seem to be still problems at Tesla, as evidenced by the testimonials of several buyers.

Indeed, several customers have assured on the Tesla forums that the delivery of their vehicle has been suspended, and this for unknown reasons. Some even learned that their Model S had indeed arrived at the delivery center closest to their home, but that the manufacturer was not yet able to deliver the vehicle.

Tesla has given numerous excuses to justify the delays, but according to several buyers, they are due to “New inspection standards”, as this message from Tesla to a customer suggests: “Your vehicle is currently undergoing newly updated inspection standards and should not be finished until tomorrow. We would like to point out that so far your vehicle has successfully passed our rigorous inspection process, but we will reschedule your delivery date once it has successfully passed the most recent iteration of our updated inspection process.“.

Delays caused by the Model S Plaid fire?

It is impossible to know for the moment what Tesla is inspecting or why the manufacturer is not inclined to give a new delivery date. Some believe there is a connection to the Tesla Model S Plaid which recently caught fire, nearly killing its driver. Only, nothing allows to affirm it. As a reminder, Elon Musk had justified the first delivery delays due to the need for Tesla to ensure “that the new Model S battery pack was safe ”.

For others, it would be a problem with Tesla Vision, Tesla’s new system that replaces previous front-facing radars. It is true that some customers have reported some bugs. Criticisms that Elon Musk had quickly swept aside, ensuring that the Autopilot is as efficient as before with Tesla Vision.
