The stairlift
the stair climbs is not new. It has been around for several decades. However, its evolution has made it one of the most meaningful technologies for seniors. Its principle is simple. It allows to carry the person from the floor down and vice versa. Since many houses are not on one level, this has become a very practical solution. the electric staircase is the most common model. There is the exterior, interior and also stairlift for all types of stairs: straight, curved, etc.
Connected objects
There are so many that it is impossible to list them all. Every year, companies and start-ups design connected objects for seniors. Granted, this is new technology, but these items were made so that older people can use them without worries:
- The alert bracelets : they give the alert to the family, to the hospital, to the doctor or to health officials if the person is unwell, a fall or is in a serious situation.
- The connected pillboxes : Family members will no longer have to worry about whether the senior has forgotten to take their medication and whether they are taking the correct dose. The pill organizer does all the work and sends the information to pharmacists or the doctor.
- The surveillance cameras : these connected objects warn the family or those in charge if the elderly person is unwell or is in a worrying situation.
- The tablets and their applications: nowadays, there are tablets for old people. They are the same size as normal tablets, but the display is significantly larger. It should also be noted that the applications installed in it are all intended for seniors with a very specific user interface. Tablets allow them to play, have fun, listen to music, but above all, call their families.
- The connected glasses : they work much like the alert bracelets. The glasses send alerts to the senior’s referees if the latter does a sudden fall.
Other technologies for seniors
Other technologies allow our elders to keep their well-being, but also and above all their autonomy as long as possible. They are also useful for those around them:
- The robots : more and more companies are creating robots for seniors. Their goal is to keep them company, but also to help them in their daily life.
- For the gymnastic : there are for example the applications to get seniors moving on a daily basis. There are also materials that help them get to the gym. These are often connected.
- Support materials for older people such as sleeves, the knee pads and others which are equipped with an electric stimulator.
