SWAN and 4ka are launching a fixed 5G internet at home

Forget about outdated LTE internet. SWAN and 4ka operators have prepared a more advantageous solution for those who do not have access to optics. They are the first in Slovakia to launch a fixed 5G internet at home.

While LTE internet speeds started at 70 Mbps, operators put 250 Mbps (download) and 10 Mbps (upload) as the maximum fixed 5G internet speed. However, we had the opportunity to test live that it is technically possible to achieve much higher speeds.

And we are only at the beginning of the 5G era. Juraj Zachar, SWAN’s project manager, sees 5G’s huge potential for the future. However, this will not be completely unlimited, and after pumping 2 TB of data, the speed will be limited to 6 Mbps (download) and 1 Mbps (upload).

5G at home for only 20.99 euros per month

The service will be available in 10 city districts of Bratislava (Devínska Nová Ves, Dúbravka, Karlova Ves, Nové Mesto, Petržalka, Podunajské Biskupice, Rača, Ružinov, Staré Mesto and Vrakuňa), but it is planned to cover other Slovak cities in the future.

Until February 28, 2022, you can get the 5G service at home for 20.99 euros per month (for the first 15 months with a 24-month commitment). After the event you will be able to order it for the standard price is 24.99 euros per month.

The 5G signal will be received by a special 5G terminal

The connection to the state-of-the-art 5G network will be provided by a new 5G terminal, which must be placed outdoors. It can then be connected to any WiFi router
SWAN offers a premium dual-band wireless gigabit WiFi router TP-Link EC230-G1 for a one-time fee of 49.90 Euros.

The installation of the external 5G terminal must be performed by a qualified technician for a one-time fee of EUR 49.99, while until 28 February 2022 the share price of EUR 29.99 will apply with a 24-month commitment.
