Summary of announcements from Summer of Gaming by IGN -apkrig

In addition to the introduction of new games from Koch Media or a load of information about game series and movies from Netflix, the IGN editorial staff also held its own presentation. The second annual Summer of Gaming brought almost two hours of very interesting information, announcements and trailers about the games or their additions, which we have not been able to watch at any of this year’s events. Of course, there was also a recycling of already known information, but this did not happen often and it must be admitted that it was IGN that managed the dramaturgy of its showcase at least for the time being. You can see the whole record of the event below, or we will return to it soon in one of the news summaries, but until then we have the most interesting parts of the presentation for you in a comprehensive text.

Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell’s successful soulslike affair will be expanded with the subtitle The Virtous Cycle. The cryptic trailer offered a view of the rain-soaked building, there was also a forest with moving trees and probably a new character – a box – which will bring new features to the game. As you can see, unlike the basic game, it will be possible to freely switch your own weapon form and turn a spear into an ax or a pair of swords. DLC will of course be available for all versions of the game and we look forward to it soon.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One

The expected Sherlock Holmes from Frogwares developers was also represented in the Summer of Gaming program. Without torture, we admit that the video in which the game was presented does not bring any new information – it is still true that the title will be available later this year on the PC and both generations of PlayStation, respectively. Xbox. But we still gratefully acknowledge the show, which focuses on the story and portrayal of all the famous characters in a slightly different light. It is still true that Sherlock will have to investigate the mysterious death of his own mother, and the new video finally presents the legendary detective Sherlock’s face, when he was previously presented as a slightly arrogant and perhaps too ambitious young man.

Sifu

During the IGN presentation, the developers from the Sloclap (Absolver) studio showed a new gameplay video from their fighting game Sifu, which premiered at Sony’s State of Play in February. The game focuses on the story of a kung fu fighter who has one special ability. Or a curse? In any case, if he dies, he will come to life again, but a little older and more hairy. In the new video, we were able to watch the fights in one of the many upcoming levels and also monitor the involvement of the environment in combos and attacks. The main character can use a lot of items as effective cover, or grab smaller ones and attack the opponents with them. Of course, a note on a very stylized art page, which leaves older games from the PS2 era, such as Jet Li: Rise to Honor, cannot be left out. Sifu will be released soon on PS4, PS5 and the Epic Games Store.

Blacktail

A complete novelty for IGN Expo was the announcement of the game Blacktail from the newly founded studio Parasight. The reason why you should watch the game may be that the team consists of veterans who participated in games such as Blair Witch, The Medium or Layers of Fear. The second reason will undoubtedly be the theme of the game and the opportunity to take on the role of the dreaded baby Jaga. In the case of Blacktail, it is a young witch who has been banished from her own village and, driven by an inner voice, chases a group of small children. But he will also fight with inner demons and gradually reveal his past and the motives that led to the construction of the proverbial gingerbread house. The game does not have a release date yet, but we have learned that it is aimed at the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

World War Z: Aftermath

An improved version of the zombie action World War Z from Saber Interactive was also unveiled. The concept of the game does not change – it will still be a cooperative survival – but players can look forward to new content, which will include everything that appeared in the GOTY edition, but also completely new characters, a redesigned melee system, new zombies and undead in general and, last but not least, first person mode. At the same time, Aftermath should take full advantage of the performance of the new consoles and run on them in 4K resolution while maintaining 60 fps. A bonus will also be the HordeXL mode, which will add hundreds of additional zombies to the background on the new consoles and PC for an extra atmosphere. The developers also want to take players to completely new locations – Rome, the Vatican and Kamchatka – and to apply the new classes of heroes to the fullest. World War Z: Aftermath arrives at the end of the year, with the owners of the original version being able to apply for a discount and buy a title for 20 euros. Others will have to double.

Bramble: The Mountain King

The horror adventure Bramble, which is definitely not protected by violence and blood, has received new examples. It is a very special mixture of a child’s view of the world and non-negotiable violence, which is supposed to fit into the canon of Nordic stories. But we understand that if a little boy wants to save his sister, the need to stab adults in the spirit of David and Goliath’s duel, which we will obviously enjoy to the fullest in Bramble: The Mountain King, will not stop him. The Dimfrost studio is behind the game, the release date is preliminarily planned for 2022 and we will see it at least on a PC, other platforms are not being talked about yet.

Martha is Dead

Where did the promising psychological horror Martha is Dead go? Soldiers from the LKA studio introduced him last October and there has been no real hearing about him since. The presence in the IGN program was therefore a pleasant surprise, especially when we were able to watch snippets of gameplay in the new two minutes. Once again, we learned a little more about the story that revolves around the discovery of a drowned woman. But what the game enchanted us with is a very unconventional setting – we look at Tuscany at the end of World War II, which is certainly not a completely traditional place where “war” games would take place. The release date has not been specified yet – we look forward to this year on the PC and new consoles.

Chernobylite

The highly anticipated Chernobyl survival Chernobylite from developers from The Farm 51 studio, which has been speculated in recent hours as a possible acquisition of Microsoft, also received a new video. On the business side, however, all the attention was focused on the upcoming game, which looks better and better with each trailer. This time we could watch a lot of shots of the Dark Zone, including glowing anomalies and monsters that players will have to deal with. Chernobylite is scheduled for July, it will be played on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Steelrising

Studio Spiders – the authors of the excellent Greedfall – presented their new game Steelrising. Again, it combines real history with sci-fi elements, now specifically the period of the Great French Revolution and robots in the form in which they could appear at the court of Louis XVI. After the first teaser, we could finally take a closer look at the game and it should be noted that robots and other machines looks great. Even better than Greedfall, which is a welcome move and another reason to look forward to the release. But when the game comes out, the developers don’t want to reveal it yet, we’ll see it on a PC and new consoles anyway.
